Day 2

Giant firs & mines

Experience the Tannenriesen (giant fir) premium trail in a completely new way. With the LAUSCHTOUR audio guide, you will learn exciting facts about features large and small along the way. Germany's largest market square, the largest fir tree in the Black Forest, carpets of moss, and stunning views. The Tannenriesen Trail connects the most beautiful spots around Freudenstadt and offers carefree hiking fun for all ages thanks to only small changes in altitude. On the audio tour, you will learn exciting facts about nature and the culture and history of Freudenstadt. The tour carves through the Teuchelwald forest with its impressive giant firs, to the idyllic Waldliegewiese meadow and through the green mossy Baldenhofer Graben to the Kienberg mountain. Finally, there is a superb panoramic view from Friedrich’s Tower and the descent down Germany's highest rose path. Along the way, marvel at numerous wooden sculptures crafted by various chainsaw artists for Freudenstadt Wood Art Day.

At the Lauterbad mountain hut, relax and enjoy yourself! Let your gaze wander and lose yourself in the warm, cosy atmosphere. Be it old or young, modern or traditional, here it's simply about arriving and feeling good. Regional delicacies combine with modern elements. One of the most beautiful panoramic terraces in the region… always a pleasure!

Enter our historic mining centre and see how silver was once mined down a 30m descent.

On your way back to the market square, stop off at the Pizzeria d'Orazio opposite the Kurhaus and round off the evening in its cosy confines.
