Thanks to the efforts of the Forest Academy, the 7 Moors Trail is currently enjoying a new lease of life. This trail takes you along seven moorland areas: Fohrenmoos, Turbenmoos, Geishaltermoos, Schwarzensägemoos, Birkenmoor, Sonnmättlemoos and Brunnmättlemoos.
These biotopes are important habitats for a large number of rare plant and animal species. To ensure the protection of these sensitive ecosystems, the moors are not directly accessible, but can only be seen from a distance.
One exception is the birch bog, which can be experienced thanks to a wooden footbridge at the edge of the road through the Schwarzenbächletal valley. This footbridge allows visitors to explore the moor and admire its special flora and fauna up close without disturbing the sensitive habitats. The footbridge has been carefully designed to ensure minimal impact on the moorland while providing an immersive nature experience.
Depending on the time of year, you can discover a variety of rare plants such as seven-star orchids, feverfew, orchids and marsh blood-eyes. There are informative boards along the way that provide an insight into the special features of the moors and their importance for the ecological balance.
A real highlight of this tour is the visit to the Krai-Woog-Gumpen natural monument, also known as the Glacier Mill. Two impressive stone pools, relics from the last ice age, lie close together. With a diameter of around 2.70 metres, these pools are witnesses to a bygone era when mighty glaciers shaped the landscape. The sound of the clear water and the refreshing spray give this place a magical atmosphere that will leave you mesmerised. The small waterfall that pours majestically over the rocks is undoubtedly the highlight of this natural spectacle. The deep blue pool invites you to dip your feet in or bravely plunge into the refreshing waters.
While you experience the natural beauty of the Sieben-Moore-Weg, the almost 2 km long section along the small tarmac road in the Schwarzenbächletal becomes a minor matter. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the moors and be enchanted by the unspoilt nature of the Hotzenwald.
