The Christuskirche is located in the centre of Achern. It is only a 15-minute walk to the railway station or the nearby Illenau. Protestants came to Achern and the region around 200 years ago as a result of the diaconal institution and labour migration. The church was completed in 1909 and has been the centre of Protestant parish life in Achern ever since. The church can accommodate up to 600 people. In general, the church is particularly impressive due to its size and wood panelling on the galleries. Above the altar shines a colourful stained glass window depicting Jesus preaching the so-called Sermon on the Mount. Two bells were donated by the director of the glassworks, Dr Severin, and the third by Grand Duke Friedrich II of Baden.
