The Hansjakob Trail
Heinrich Hansjakob (1837-1916) was one of the best-known and most popular writers in southern Germany. With a family history of depression, Heinrich Hansjakob repeatedly suffered from bouts of depression, which eventually led to him being hospitalised in the Illenau sanatorium and nursing home from 6 January to 26 March 1894. He went on long walks almost every day, which led him to Dean Franz-Xaver Lender, a professional colleague, in Sasbach. The fear of being alone and melancholy drove him to hike in order to forget through nature and find joy in life again. The circular trail leads us through sun-drenched landscapes, we experience nature first-hand and enjoy the singing birds, the fragrant meadows, the blossoming fruit trees, the shady forests and the golden yellow vines. Even today, the health benefits of hiking are appreciated - the body is evenly exercised and the mind is freed.....
