The hike leads along historic paths and trails from Seewald - Besenfeld with its historic town hall via Urnagold and St John's Church, which dates back to the 13th century, past the source of the Nagold and down into the Poppeltal valley to the Poppelsee lake, a relic from the rafting era. Today, a large leisure centre with a giant slide and the Poppelmühle (Poppel Mill) have been created in the Poppeltal as a museum that can be experienced. In Gompelscheuer, you pass the source of the Enz river and head into the Kaltenbach valley to the Kaltenbachsee lake with its imposing moated castle (dam). Following a narrow path uphill, you reach the "Obere Neue Haus", the ruins of a forest inn that served Wilhelm Hauff as a model for "Wirtshaus im Spessart". On the opposite side of the path are the remains of two huge cabbage slabs. At the Neuhaushütte you come to the middle path of the Black Forest Association of the "Old Wine Route", from where you can enjoy marvellous views across the Murg Valley back to the starting point.
