Baiersbronner Seensteig - Etappe 3: Einsamkeit und Touristenrummel

From the car park, the trail leads to one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the northern Black Forest, the Schliffkopf. Depending on the weather, the view stretches as far as the Bernese Alps and the misty valleys, or just a few metres away. There are two options from the "Hübschen Platz": on the well-known Westweg via the unique landscape of the Grinden, or via the Kaisersteigle, far from the Black Forest High Road, to the Ruhestein. A visit to the National Park Centre and a stop at a mountain hut are well worthwhile here. Seekopf is the name of the next hill, which is reached via the serpentine path on the Ruhestein ski slope. The chairlift is in operation at weekends and during the holidays. Grazed pastures, mountain pines and heather characterise the vegetation on the plateau. Coniferous forest grows on the steep slopes. At the Euting grave, the view extends to endless forests, the Schönmünz valley and the Wildsee lake. The area was designated a protected forest over 100 years ago and is now a valuable core zone of the young national park. A detour to the lake gives the impression of a primeval forest of tomorrow (approx. 1 hour). A little later you reach the Darmstädter Hütte (refreshment stop and overnight accommodation). Afterwards, a scenic nature trail leads 3 kilometres to the Seibelseckle ski slope (refreshments available). Another good kilometre to Mummelsee, 1025 m above sea level. The sale of souvenirs, pedalo hire, the mountain hotel and the direct location on the Black Forest High Road with great views of the Rhine Valley and the foothills make this excursion destination very popular.
