The premium hiking trail starts at the Plauderstüble car park near the Traube Tonbach log cabin, which invites you to stop for a bite to eat at the end of the tour. The start of the tour is a narrow path uphill to the historic sage oven. Now it's uphill again, past well-preserved old boundary stones. The path becomes flatter and you soon reach the enjoyment area at Obere Zinken and the Himmelsliege (sky lounger) there. The fantastic viewpoint with wooden picnic platform invites you to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Now the national park area begins. Initially on wide forest paths, but soon again on soft, natural forest paths, the trail leads through the Kleemisse, an area of high moorland with very special vegetation. At the Kleemisse site, it is worth taking a short detour to another highlight of the tour, the Huzenbacher Seeblick. The view of the lake lying deep in the Karmulde is spectacular.
The trail continues along a beautiful path on the high moor past the imposing Hirschstein, another historical boundary stone. The hiking trail now joins a wide gravel path, which continues slightly downhill to the refuge on Überzwercher Berg.
This is followed by a descent on a path to the rafters' hut in the Tonbach valley, which is a unique experience in its own right thanks to the characteristics of the path. Once in the valley, you reach the Tonbach stream after a few steps and follow the course of the stream downhill for a while. First you pass another sage oven, then you cross a bridge with a surge from the rafting era. Shortly before the game reserve, a seating area under the sheltering branches of an old beech tree right by the Tonbach invites you to linger - or to take a footbath above the cascades.
Past the game reserve, the Tonbach valley widens into a lovely and widening meadow valley. Soon you can see the first houses of Tonbach again. The route now continues slightly uphill one last time on a narrow forest path and meadow path to the Traube Tonbach log cabin on the edge of the forest, which is located shortly before the Plauderstüble car park starting point.
