From Baiersbronn, the route covers almost 60 km and 1400 metres in altitude into the picturesque Kinzig Valley, home of the Black Forest Bollenhut.
Leaving Baiersbronn, the route first leads past the Sankenbachsee lake and the Sankenbach waterfalls up towards Kniebis to the Ellbachseeblick. Here you have a marvellous view of the Ellbachsee, another cirque lake.
The route continues over the Kniebis towards Bad Rippoldsau. The herb garden in Bad Rippoldsau is well worth a detour. After Bad Rippoldsau, the route leads past the Burgbachfelsen waterfall, one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Germany.
The route then continues through the forest, past the St. Romaner Höhe, which offers a beautiful view of St. Roman. One last long climb and then the trail leads downhill again to Wolfach, the town of raftsmen and glassblowers.
