Bike Crossing - Tag 5 - von Triberg nach Buchenbach

From the clock-making town of Triberg, the route covers almost 55 km and over 1500 metres in altitude through typical Black Forest countryside to Buchenbach in the beautiful Dreisamtal valley. Right at the start of the stage, the first highlight of the day awaits you in the heart of the town of Triberg: Germany's highest waterfalls. The water of the Gutach cascades over 160 metres into the valley, foaming and thundering in seven stages. The world's first largest cuckoo clock is also just a short detour (approx. 500 metres) from the route. From Triberg, the route continues uphill via Schonach through a mosaic of forests and meadows past traditional Black Forest farms to St Martin's Chapel near Furtwangen. This is the source of the Breg, which joins the Brigach downstream and marks the beginning of the Danube. The Höhengasthof Kolmenhof inn at the source is a good spot for a first breather - including a handy Regiomat. The next 10 kilometres are downhill to the Simonswälder Tal valley before the crisp ascent to the Kandel - the mountain of strength - with its 1241 m and great views awaits you. It's worth making a detour to the new info point at the top of the pass, where you can find lots of information about the special natural environment of the Kandel and the Southern Black Forest Nature Park. After the energy-sapping ascent, the route rolls towards St. Peter, which is hard to miss thanks to its striking baroque church. Through the Unteribental valley, you finally reach today's stage finish in Buchenbach.
