Der Belchen

The Celts are said to have once dedicated the mountain to the sun god Belenus. Surrounded by the tranquillity of the Belchen nature reserve, the third highest peak in the Black Forest attracts nature lovers and those seeking relaxation in equal measure.

In the heart of the Southern Black Forest Nature Park , the unique sub-alpine landscape of the Belchen offers a rich variety of flora and fauna. To the west you can discover the low-lying Rhine plain and France with Alsace and the Vosges mountains, to the south you have a view over the Swiss Jura, to the north and north-east the peaks of the Black Forest and to the east Vorarlberg.

The historic Belchenhaus is located directly at the top station of the Belchen cable car. At an altitude of 1,360 metres, the Belchenhaus is the highest inn in Baden-Württemberg. The Belchenhaus is the starting point for numerous hiking trails through the Belchen nature reserve.

On the south-facing terrace in front of the house you can enjoy snacks and homemade cakes as well as the mountain sun and the unobstructed view of the famous Belchen Alps panorama.
