From Schönau, we set off in the direction of Todtnau. The Wiesental cycle path ensures that we can cycle on the old railway line rather than on the main road as far as Todtnau. Passing the bus station, we cross the centre of Todtnau and head towards the caravan park. Here we have no choice but to join the B317, which leads towards the Feldberg. The gradient now increases more and more on tarmac. We pass Brandenberg and Fahl before turning left at the Fahl waterfall and travelling along the Todtnauer Hüttenstraße. This meanders for another 3 kilometres up to the Todtnauer Hütte. From here, the route, which now becomes a cycle path, leads us towards the Haus der Natur in Feldberg. We leave this behind us on the left and cycle past the Seebuck hut to the Raimartihof. From here it is 2.7 kilometres to the Rinkensattel. After a descent through the Zastlertal valley, we finally reach Oberried at kilometre 39. In the centre of the village, we keep left before rejoining the L126 a short time later.
The second long climb of the day awaits us, up to Schauinsland. For 10.5 kilometres, the road winds its way past Steinwasen and through Hofsgrund up to the slag heap. Behind us, we can see the Feldberg, while we realise that we have just circumnavigated it. At the car park, directly by the L124 and slightly diagonally above the hotel "Die Halde", a wide cycle/hiking path leads us west past the Haldenköpfle and on to the "Auf den Böden" site. 400 metres after the aforementioned location, we keep left and shortly afterwards pass the cattle gate above the hamlet of Ungendwieden. We reach the main road at kilometre 58.7, which leads us downhill to the centre of Wieden. From here, we can now follow the signs for the BL3 mountain bike tour down to Schönau, which first lead us past the Lailehäusern and into the district of Laitenbach. From Laitenbach, we cross over to Rollsbach and via Winden until we finally reach Aitern. At Aiterer Feld, we reach the Wiesental cycle path, which we follow for the last few metres to Schönau.
