From the residential town of Donaueschingen, you cycle along meadows and fields on the former Roman path to Villingen-Zollhaus and on to the town centre.
Alternatively, just before Zollhaus, you have the option of taking an "extra loop" to explore the attractive spa town of Bad Dürrheim.
You should definitely make time for the old Zähringer town of Villingen. The historic town centre alone, with its town wall, gates and towers, the old town hall, the cathedral and the Franciscan Museum, is well worth a visit.
The hilly and panoramic route continues via Rietheim and Brigachtal, passing the Magdalenenberg, which is home to the largest burial mound with 126 reburials and the largest Hallstatt wood find in Central Europe dating back to 616 BC, which can now be viewed in the Franciscan Museum.
"Brigach and Breg bring the Danube away": Both Danube source rivers, which flow together not far from the castle park in Donaueschingen at the redesigned source of the Danube and henceforth form the Danube, can be experienced during the course of the tour.
You meet the Breg in Wolterdingen, where it is worth taking a detour to the flood retention basin, which serves as flood protection along the Breg and the Danube as far as Ulm.
On the old railway embankment of the Bregtal railway, you reach the Zähringer town of Bräunlingen with its historic old town, town wall and mill gate.
