This varied cycle tour leads with a few manageable climbs, such as up to the pilgrimage church of St Wendelin, through the orchards of the Ortenau and along the vineyards and Black Forest heights to the tranquil wine, burner and fruit town of Oberkirch.
Rising above Oberkirch on a mountain promontory is Schauenburg Castle, a striking landmark of the town. Bikers in good physical condition should take a detour to the castle ruins and the castle restaurant right next door.
Following the ranch for a while, the northern turning point of the tour is reached at the traditional brewery restaurant in Renchen-Ulm and after a hearty refreshment stop, the route continues through the villages and communities of Ortenau with a final ascent to Rammersweier back to Durbach.
