Travelling through the Black Forest on two wheels is not only a pleasure for trained racing cyclists or mountain bikers, but also for families. On selected cycle paths, such as the Kinzigtal cycle path, you can spend a great holiday on your bike, whether with a child trailer or self-propelled children.
The Kinzigtal cycle path largely fulfils all the important requirements for a relaxed cycling trip for parents and an eventful holiday for children: low gradients, a route away from motorways, good cycle-friendly public transport connections, very good signposting of the cycle path and numerous adventure and play opportunities as well as swimming opportunities along the edge of the route.
In addition to the certified"family holiday" resort of Freudenstadt-Lossburg and the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum (also certified for "family holidays"), the Kinzig valley offers adventure trails and playgrounds, outdoor pools, natural monuments, summer toboggan runs and mini golf courses in many places. In addition, there are specially compiled leisure programmes, such as fairytale hours in Zauberland Lossburg, adventure afternoons on the farm or the children's town tour in Zell am Harmersbach. There are also numerous bad weather alternatives along the way, such as the rafting museum, the MiMa, visitor mines or the Black Forest model railway.
You can download the map overview with the family-friendly attractions along the Kinzigtal Cycle Path or save the entire tour with the Black Forest app and always know when the next stop for your children is coming up. We wish you a fun and eventful journey on our Black Forest family cycle path through the Kinzig valley.
P.S.: Also visit the six side valleys of the Kinzig valley.
For example, you can take the Black Forest railway to Hornberg, where open-air theatre performances take place. From Hornberg, head downhill towards Gutach, past the Park of the Senses, the summer toboggan run and the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum. From there, it is not far to Hausach and the connection to the Kinzigtal cycle path (total from Hornberg to the Kinzigtal cycle path access point: 9.9 km).
Another side valley leads you to Oberhamersbach. In Oberharmersbach, the Adventure.Mini.Golf.Park and the Hademar Waldwichtel along the nature theme trail await you. Here too, you can take the S-Bahn to Vor Riersbach station and then cycle along the side valley back to the Kinzigtal cycle path (8.1 km; some sections gravelled).
