Travelling through the Black Forest on two wheels is not only a pleasure for trained racing cyclists or mountain bikers, but also for families. On selected cycle paths, such as the Nagoldtal cycle path, you can spend a great holiday on your bike, whether with a child trailer or self-propelled children.
The Southern Black Forest Cycle Path fulfils all the important requirements for a relaxing cycle tour for parents and an eventful holiday for children: low gradients, a route with little traffic, good cycle-friendly public transport connections, very good signposting of the cycle path and numerous adventure and play opportunities as well as swimming opportunities along the edge of the route.
The approximately 240 kilometres of the Southern Black Forest Cycle Route have been awarded 4 stars by the ADFC as a quality route. The good overall rating speaks for the high quality of the cycle route and guarantees a safe and relaxing cycle tour, especially for families. From Titisee-Neustadt to Bonndorf, the Southern Black Forest Cycle Route also runs along a former railway line and is particularly relaxing for families.
The majority of the route runs on traffic-free cycle paths or quiet country roads, but there are also short sections on roads with moderate traffic. Road surface: approx. 90 % tarmac, 10 % gravel surface which is easy to cycle on.
