Description
With its 1,493 metres, the Feldberg is the highest mountain in the Black Forest. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy magnificent views of the southern Black Forest with Lake Titisee and Lake Schluchsee, as well as - if visibility is good - a grandiose Alpine panorama from Mont Blanc to the Zugspitze.
To get to the top without breaking a sweat, you can use the Feldberg cable car. Neither draughty nor airy, but in closed cabins, you float towards the summit. You can make yourself comfortable in the 8-seater cabins and even take your pram, wheelchair, bicycle or four-legged friend with you. The youngest guests of the Feldbergbahn particularly enjoy the special Resi cabin and the gondola for gnomes.
The most beautiful hiking routes in the Feldberg Nature Park begin at the mountain station at 1,450 m above sea level. Once you have reached the top, it is also worth visiting the Feldberg tower. From the viewing platform on the 11th floor, you can enjoy the unique panorama of the southern Black Forest and the Alps. In addition, the Schutzverband der Schwarzwälder Schinkenhersteller (Protective Association of Black Forest Ham Producers) set up a museum on the 1st floor a few years ago in honour of the Black Forest speciality.
The Feldbergbahn is in operation from Ascension Day to the beginning of November.
