There are 761 metres of altitude to overcome over 13 km. Experienced hikers will need around 3.5 hours to complete the trail. The trail is very demanding, with three steep ascents and descents to conquer. However, you are rewarded with fantastic views of the surrounding Black Forest landscape. The higher the ascent, the wider the view. Special features along the way are the town's landmarks, "Burg Husen", the 2.8 km adventure trail, which is designed to encourage children to exercise in the great outdoors, the picturesquely situated "Hausacherbach Chapel" and the "Kreuzberg Chapel".
A section of the Hausacher Bergsteig runs along the most famous of all Black Forest long-distance hiking trails, the "Westweg", and touches on the "Kinzigtäler Jakobusweg" and the "Großer Hansjakobweg".
The route runs on the so-called "dry side", i.e. there are no inns along the way, just countryside and tranquillity. However, three natural refrigerators have been set up along the way to ensure that nobody dies of thirst.
Hausach is the station à mi-parcours of the cdlèbre sentier Westweg. The town is surrounded by 6 valleys and is situated between Brandenkopf (945 m) and Farrenkopf (789 m), in the Kinzig valley.
Following the Westweg, you reach the Haseneckle. You then descend into the Hauserbach valley. At the chapel of Hauserbach, the path leads to the other side of the mountain and climbs again. The Großer Eckweg and the Fichtenwaldweg allow us to reach the highest point (558 m).
This place called "Überm Bärenbach" offers a magnificent panorama. Petits sentiers et terrain restd sauvage nous font descendre lentement dans la vallde de Hauserbach. After traversing the route, a final climb leads to the mining trail. You pass the Kreuzberg chapel, with a view over the town and the valley, before descending this time directly to the end of the route.
Hausach:
Au cœur de la Forêt-Noire, au centre de la vallde de la Kinzig, en bordure immddiate du confluent de la Gutach et de la KInzig : la situation centrale de Hausach est incomparable. This geographical situation was the reason, several centuries ago, for the construction of the castle of Husen and the management of an octroi. Today, it contributes greatly to making Hausach an industrial and commercial site. The ruins of the fortified castle have become the symbol of the town.
