From the end of Kirchzarten, the tour leads along the cycle path towards Unteribental. After a few kilometres you reach Kirchzarten-Burg, where it is worth making a detour to the Markenhof farm shop, where you can buy fresh fruit, fruit juices and fruit brandies. www.markenhof.info
The cycle path ends in Unteribental Hofacker, always slightly uphill, you follow the little-used road along the Ibenbach stream slightly uphill through Unteribental. Farms, meadows and pastures line the route. At the end of the valley, just before the road climbs steeply, the Fortstweg trail branches off to the right and climbs the last 200 metres of altitude to St. Peter via forest paths and small roads. Here it is worth making a short stop for a tour of the village and a stop at the many restaurants and cafés or a visit to the baroque church.
The tour continues to Lindenberg, with a magnificent view across the valley to the Black Forest mountains opposite with the "highest", the Feldberg. Maria Lindenberg, a pilgrimage church, is also waiting to be visited here.
A steep (approx. 12%) but easy forest path takes you back to Unteribental, from here the way back is identical to the way there.
Wow: the beautiful Unteribental valley with its lovely slopes where cows and sheep graze. The baroque church and rococo library in St Peter. The view from the Lindenberg.
Character: Most of the tour is on tarmac, but also partly on gravel and forest paths.
gravel and forest paths. It only gets shady on the final ascent to St. Peter. The village is always well signposted.
Getting there: From the Black Forest or Freiburg, take the Breisgau S-Bahn to Kirchzarten station. An extra bike ticket is not necessary, except on weekdays between 6 and 9 am. There are car parks at the station.
