Kaltenbachsee

Lake Kaltenbachsee, located in the Seewald district, is a rafting lake from earlier times. It was created in the 18th century by raftsmen from the Enz valley. The logs were tied together to form rafts in order to transport tree trunks down into the valley and further along the Enz, Neckar and Rhine rivers to their destination in the Netherlands. The dammed lake was drained and the logs could be rafted for half a day. Today, the idyllic lake is a beautiful destination for hikers and cyclists.
