Route 1 of the salmon adventure trail follows the "Frische Murg" in the flat high valley from Baiersbronn to Röt. The clear, cold water near the source flows here in long bends, shaded by riparian woodland and small patches of forest. It is the habitat of trout, grayling and other oxygen-loving fish! Maybe you'll spot them under the hanging bushes at the edge of the bank? But then why a salmon adventure trail? Just 150 years ago, numerous salmon travelled over 700 km from the Atlantic to Baiersbronn to lay their eggs in the shallow, gravelly banks! Then the path was blocked... Now they are coming back! The information boards tell you about the chequered history of the salmon, the river and its inhabitants, the invention of mills and the use of hydropower. Immerse yourself in the world of fly fishing and see the river from the fish's perspective. You will learn more about the amazing abilities of fish and their perfectly adapted physique and celebrate the return of the salmon with us. Welcome to the Frische Murg.
