The "Christmas storm" has caused a lot of costs and additional work for our forestry offices and forest owners. Hikers, however, are offered new, marvellous views of the Rhine Valley and the Vosges Mountains in some places. On extended walks through completely unaffected forest areas, visitors suddenly find themselves in a clearing that gives them a lasting impression of the forces of nature.
Lothar" did not change the overall character of our Black Forest landscape. On the contrary, it was enriched by some interesting aspects.
Today, the Lothar memorial, near the Moosturm, commemorates the storm in 1999 and was created by the Gengenbach artist Norbert Feger.
