Palais Löwenberg: A patrician house from the 18th century. The prestigious Bender family lived here. Important personalities came from this clan. Many of the town's mayor, a court chaplain to Emperor Joseph I and prince abbot of St Blasien. The most important was Columbanus v. Bender. As a field marshal under Joseph II, he achieved the highest military honours. He is still celebrated today as the saviour of Luxembourg, where he extended and defended the casemates. The Löwenbergpalais is now a museum and was the last residence of the honorary citizen, writer and friend of the region Otto Ernst Sutter. Today, the interiors of the stately patrician house provide a charming setting for the special exhibitions that take place several times a year.
