In the summer of 2000, the show grounds of the Hof Berg-Garten wild plant nursery were remodelled. Integrated into the Murg Valley Trail, the resulting botanical garden presents the plant communities of the southern Black Forest. During its creation, more than a hundred BASEG gardeners designed beautiful paths and areas with free-flowing spring water in a large-scale project.
Together, they created a beautiful show garden with a small-scale structure and diversity that offers surprising niches, hidden areas and sunny viewing spots.
The botanical garden is home to numerous insect species, including butterflies, bumblebees, bees, hoverflies, dragonflies and beetles. The diversity is particularly impressive in July and August. Even though the show garden requires constant care, the impression for visitors is that of a wild garden in which everything fits together harmoniously, creating a diverse overall picture of shapes, colours, plants and animals.
The enchanting garden is "guarded" by four moss-covered legendary figures of the Hotzenwald.
