From Oppenau, 3 climbs lead up to the B500, the Black Forest High Road, which runs across the Black Forest heights from north to south. In 2001, 2002 and 2007, the Tour of Germany led through Oppenau and partly along these roads. The 'Oppenauer Steige', the shortest connection to the B500, corresponds to a category 1 climb according to UCI criteria.
If you want to torture yourself, you can string all 3 climbs together so that the Griesbacher Steige, Oppenauer Steige and Lierbachtal-Ruhestein climbs are ridden up and down in the form of an 8 with the Oppenau junction and the L92/B500 junction at Zuflucht.
As the route leads through Oppenau again and again, the tour can also be cancelled at any time, e.g. in bad weather.
