Beschreibung
With a total length of 110 km (5 stages), this eventful hiking trail has developed into a fully-fledged long-distance hiking trail. The Murgleiter fulfils the criteria of the "German Hiking Seal of Approval" and has been awarded 65 experience points by the German Hiking Institute as a premium trail.
- Gaggenau - Gernsbach; 23.7 km, difficult
- Gernsbach - Forbach; 24.2 km, difficult
- Forbach - Schönmünzach; 17.4 km, difficult
- Schönmünzach - Baiersbronn; 23.7 km, difficult
- Baiersbronn - Schliffkopf; 21.4 km, difficult
The Murgleiter leads from the Unimog Museum in Gaggenau via the papermaking town of Gernsbach, through the historic half-timbered villages of Weisenbach and Forbach to Baiersbronn up to the 1,055 m high Schliffkopf. If you wish, you can also walk the premium trail in the opposite direction, as it is signposted in both directions with the Murgleiter diamond. The special thing about the Murgleiter is that it sometimes runs to the right and sometimes to the left of the river and is connected to the S-Bahn by many access routes. This allows hikers to organise the individual stages individually and flexibly - the car can safely stay at home. You don't need to worry about the return journey either - the S-Bahn takes care of this every hour (information from the KVV service telephone 0721/61 07 58 85 or at www.kvv.de).
You should be sure-footed and equipped with good footwear if you set off on the five-day tour along the Murg. With constant ups and downs, the Murg ladder reveals the many treasure troves of nature that the Black Forest has to offer here. On both sides of the river, the trail winds along rooty paths through deep forests, past rugged cliffs and over lush greenery. Just a moment ago, the trail was still spun into a mystical gorge of imposing rocks, a dense canopy of leaves and the rushing of the river, but suddenly breathtaking views open up from the heights above the wild and romantic valley. Exciting trails lead up to rocky peaks, clear lakes and tranquil moors, before descending again through secluded meadow valleys. Five days of pure hiking pleasure.
If you want to continue hiking after conquering the Murgleiter, the premium hiking trail Gernsbacher Runde, the legendary Westweg and the fantastic Baiersbronner Wanderhimmel await you.
