The starting point of the circular hike is the town hall square at the large hiking board, the so-called "squirrel signpost". We walk through the squirrel forest, then past the Tonishof farm in the direction of Obermartinsweiler. Here we cross the road to Buchenberg. We now walk through the forest along natural, partly gravelled paths to the village of Buchenberg. The tranquil little village invites you to linger. A stylish café-restaurant, a village museum and a number of historic properties ensure that you won't get bored.
Continue past the little church of St Nicholas and down into the wild and romantic Glasbach valley. The babbling brook, the mossy paths and the green meadows; here we enjoy a little piece of paradise. On the other side, the path climbs steeply towards "Sieh dich für", from where we are spoilt with a magnificent view.
We descend again, listen to the silence of the forest and follow the signs towards Muckenloch and the Waldau ruins. The Waldau tavern at the foot of the ruins is just the right place for a breather. Refreshed and invigorated, we then continue the last stretch along the Alter Kirchweg, past the golf course, towards Königsfeld.
