The wonderful distant view from the observation tower in Dobel shortly after starting at the Kurhaus sets the perfect beginning to this route. Then you go through the shady forest on sometimes narrow paths down into the Eyach valley. Once down, a wonderful rest and barbecue area on a meadow at the former Lehmannshof invites you to take a long break. Through an avenue, the path continues along the picturesque wild Eyach to the Eyachmühle inn, which invites you to stop for a meal. Along the Mannenbach stream, the path leads back up to Dobel, where you can enjoy the distant view one last time or stop at one of the catering establishments.
Please note: The nature in the Eyach valley is very special and therefore particularly protected. Be a considerate guest and behave thoughtfully according to the rules of conduct. Enjoy the moment and listen to what nature has to tell.
Thank you for taking your rubbish home with you, not relocating plants or animals, and refraining from drone recordings. Thank you for keeping your dogs on a leash, not making open fires, and avoiding noise. Please do not feed animals, pick plants, or collect mushrooms, stones, and minerals. Thank you for staying on the paths and observing the local signs.
So many visitors can continue to enjoy the beauty of the nature reserve.
Autorentipp
The silence of the Eyach valley is something very special; enjoy the moment, free from traffic noise, and listen to what nature has to tell.
Wegbeschreibung
The starting point of the route is the parking lot at Kurhaus Dobel. On the Westweg, you walk through the Dobel "Sonnentor" to the observation tower, from which you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over the Black Forest towards the Rhine plain and the Palatinate Forest.
Note: Near the observation tower, there are also additional parking spaces at the sports ground.
Through the forest, the Westweg leads down to the "Pflanzengarten" and from there uphill to the signpost "Hahnenfalz." There you turn left and follow the forest road until you meet a marked path called the "Carl-Postweiler-Weg" with a blue diamond. This path leads to the right in a southern direction down into the Eyach valley, crossing the forest roads "Stollenweg" and "Lehmannsweg." The relatively steep "Carl-Postweiler-Weg" path and the wide "Lehmannsweg" meet again further down, so you can also take the more comfortable route down to the valley floor.
In the valley floor, once at the Eyach, turn right and walk about 300 m on a short piece of paved road. A signpost at the bridge to cross leads us to the former "Lehmannshof" in sight. Here, the barbecue area and a large meadow invite you to rest. From the rest area, a path called "Wasserwegle" leads over the meadow in a kind of birch avenue downstream towards the north directly to the Eyach. The next section offers lots of wild nature, originality, and wonderful sound of the stream, but also demands stamina in places. A pure natural experience!
The approximately 3 km long "Wasserwegle" ends at a bridge, over which you get onto the paved "Eyach valley road." Follow this path towards the Eyachmühle guesthouse. The catering and resting area here invite you to take a break and refresh yourself before tackling the approximately 3.5 km ascent back up to Dobel. The green nature park stele shows the way through the "Mannenbach valley." Where the "Mannenbach path" becomes flat again, we meet the "Carl-Postweiler-Weg" again, where we turn right towards Dobel. Following the blue diamond, you soon reach Dobel and return via Wildbader Straße to the starting point "Kurhaus Dobel."
As a family route, we have a great tip here with start and end at the Eyachmühle guesthouse, with the highlight "Wasserwegle," few elevation meters, and the large barbecue and play meadow at the former "Lehmannshof."
