Directions
The Schramberg Castle Trail starts at the Town Hall Square and leads through the Park of Times, the former villa park of the clock manufacturer Erhard Junghans. Already at the open-air stage by the Villa Junghans, the ruins of Hohenschramberg Castle, which rise above the valley town at 635 meters, come into the hikers' view. The route continues uphill towards Charlottenhöhe and the Three Castles Viewpoint. Upon reaching Schlangenbühl, the view over the town and towards Hohenschramberg Castle is impressive. Further downhill directly by the stream, there is a charming rest area with a drink station. The path continues towards Tischnecker Hill, where the Castle Trail crosses the East Way. It then leads downhill past a sky lounger in the direction of Falkenstein Chapel, which houses one of the most beautiful lamentation groups in southern Germany. Upon reaching the state road at the bottom, the first half of the hike is completed. The Berneck Beach, just a few meters away, is the perfect place to refresh tired feet in the cool water. The relaxation oasis with a stone terrace, lawn, play facilities, and toilets is located right by the babbling Schiltach stream.
Here you have the option to end the route early. Along Berneck Street and through the pedestrian zone, you can return to the Town Hall Square.
After the break, the premium path and enjoyer's path lead past the KING carpentry up to the ruins of Falkenstein Castle. Then it goes downhill over a small stream to the Lauterbach Waterfalls and, shaded in the forest, back uphill towards the ruins of Hohenschramberg Castle - past the sea of rocks. From the mighty Hohenschramberg Castle ruins, the view extends over forested Black Forest mountains, over to the elevated district Sulgen, and into the valley landscape around Schramberg. Then the trail goes back down into the valley town, past a viewpoint hut overlooking Schramberg. Once in the valley town, it passes the noteworthy St. Maria Church. From here, it is only a few meters back to the starting point at Town Hall Square.
