HIKE, WALK, STROLL, RUN, BIKE... DISCOVER!
At the Schwanner Warte - a lookout tower of the Black Forest Association - you have a wide view from the edge of the Black Forest over a green meadow landscape to the Rhine plain, the Vosges mountains and the Palatinate Forest - in good weather you can even see the imperial cathedral of Speyer. Here, the eye really has time to go on a voyage of discovery and enjoy the panoramic views.
Between Kirschengäu and Kraichtal, where Baden wine grows just a few kilometres away, you can go hiking or cycling. Over 50 kilometres of hiking trails, including circular trails with benches and shelters, offer attractive destinations. The Westweg, one of the most important long-distance hiking trails in Europe, leads right past the viewing tower and you can also really burn off energy on the Nordic walking routes. There has been another attraction for mountain bike fans since 2023: a trail park with three routes is located directly behind the tower.
After lots of action, it's also nice to simply sit at the edge of the forest, look out over the countryside and enjoy a sunset - because that's something you'll never forget.
The festival in front of the tower at the start of summer is also impressive every year, when the blazing midsummer bonfire forms a magnificent overall experience with this beautiful backdrop. Straubenhardt has therefore also chosen "fire" as its symbol in the northern element portal of the Black Forest Nature Park .
