"The entire municipality of Steinen is located in the Vorderes Wiesental of the southern Black Forest, in the immediate vicinity of the border triangle of Germany/Switzerland/France. With its districts of Endenburg, Hägelberg, Hüsingen, Schlächtenhaus and Weitenau, it is the 6th largest municipality in the district of Lörrach. The districts of Steinen and Höllstein provide the main commercial jobs and an extremely well-developed infrastructure. Also worth mentioning is the attractive S-Bahn connection between Basel - Zell i. W. and Steinen - Weil a. Rh (every ¼ and ½ hour on weekdays). But nature lovers will also get their money's worth! Here in the southern Black Forest, the graceful mountain ranges combine with the picturesque meadow valleys to create a unique holiday landscape. Fresh mountain streams run through deciduous and coniferous forests, which cover over 60% of the Steinen district. Whether with or without Nordic walking poles, whether uphill or downhill - everyone will find their favourite route here on over 100 km of beautiful hiking and walking trails in the well-signposted hiking and mountain bike network of the Black Forest Association."
