Beschreibung
Germany's largest market square, the largest fir tree in the Black Forest, carpets of moss and great views. The Tannenriesen path connects the most beautiful places around Freudenstadt and offers carefree hiking enjoyment and, due to the small differences in altitude, is suitable for all ages. With our listening tour, you will also learn exciting things about the nature, culture and history of Freudenstadt. This varied tour leads through the Teuchelwald, with its impressive giant fir trees, to the idyllic forest lawn and through the green, mossy Baldenhofer Graben to the Kienberg. At the end of the tour, a great panoramic view from the Friedrichsturm and the descent via Germany's highest Rosenweg reward you.
Along the way, you can admire the numerous wooden sculptures, which were created by various chainsaw artists for the 1st Freudenstadt Wood Art Day.
Author’s tip
How about a round of mini golf at the Kienberg mini golf park?
Directions
The listening tour begins on the upper market square at Neptunbrunnen and leads past the town church via the Wölperwiesenweg to the Teuchelwald/Bässler Bridge hikers' car park (trail marking: red diamond with white line (middle route)).
This is where the "TANNENRIESEN path" begins. From here we follow the TANNENRIESEN signs (new: green arrows and green tour logo). We pass a Holzteuchel and numerous giant firs to the rustic forest café. It has been inviting guests to rest under the pine treetops since 1892, spoiling its guests with homemade cakes and Black Forest snacks.
At the Agnesruhe refuge, we keep to the left and follow the Agnesruheweg slightly uphill, then cross Schömberger Straße and the hiking car park. At the Wölperweg signpost, it's worth making a detour to the left (approx. 250m) along the root-filled forest path to the idyllic sunbathing area in the forest (Goldene-Kugel-Hütte). You can then take a relaxing break on the wellness benches, enjoy the sun and listen to the birdsongs.
Continue on the same footpath back to the Wölperweg. Then turn left onto the forest path, left again to the Outer Riviera and right on the Ostweg, past the Sauteichhütte to Masselkopf. Here, we head right to the Großvatertanne (Grandfather Fir), which is a very exciting interview. Nearby, you will find two more time-honoured giant firs. Back at the Sauteichhütte, the Baldenhofer Graben branches off to the right, a natural footpath that leads over the springy forest floor through the quiet forest idyll for about 3km. The next highlight of the tour is the Lauterbad mountain hut in a wonderful panoramic location on the Stokinger ski slope. Here you can gaze far into the foothills of the Black Forest and as far as the Swabian Alps.
Now, you cann hike along the Oberer Palmenwaldweg to the Kienberg (Friedrichshöhe). The ascent to the 25m high Herzog-Friedrich-Turm is highly recommended, as it offers a wonderful panoramic view of Freudenstadt, towards the Swabian Alps and the extensive forests and ridges of the Black Forest. In Friedrichs auf dem Kienberg you can also enjoy regional delicacies with a fantastic view of Freudenstadt.
Germany's highest rose trail leads from Kienberg, past the Kienberg mini golf park, back to the starting point. Be beguiled by the scent of the many wild roses and historical shrub roses, with a wonderful view of Freudenstadt, as we follow the serpentine hike trail down to the Teuchelwald hiking car park and back to the market square.
