The Teisenkopf tower is located at 764 metres above sea level on the right bank of the Kinzig between Schenkenzell and Schiltach and is owned by the Black Forest Association of these two municipalities. Construction began as early as 1911; it was inaugurated in 1913, so that in 2013 its 100th anniversary could be celebrated together with the 125th anniversary of the association. The Theisenkopf tower is therefore older than the memorial tower on the Fohrenbühl, which was built in 1925.
As the last of several renovation/refurbishment projects, the most extensive and obvious renovation will be completed in 2015.
When the weather is favourable, the view from the tower extends from the Swabian Alb in the east - with the striking Hohenzollern volcanic cone - over the Black Forest to the south and across the Rhine Valley to the Vosges mountains in the west.
As can be seen from the tower books, the tower is not only used as a vantage point, but also as an overnight stop for hikers on the Middle Way from Pforzheim to Basel.
On Whit Monday in 2014, the tower was visited by Mr Kretschmann and his wife, who wished the association every success with the renovation via the tower book and thanked the members of the association for their activities in this regard.
