From the summer ski jump, the trail leads to the Griesbach waterfall, which cascades over the boulders. The first ascent has to be conquered on moss-covered stone steps along the waterfall. And uphill it goes for the next few kilometres, past the Sexauer Hütte, along adventurous paths and stairs to the Teufelskanzel, a large rock formation along the way. The challenging part of the tour is now complete, because after the Bärenfelsen rock, the narrow root path ends at the Marienruhe viewpoint at an altitude of 900 metres. It is worth taking a break here to enjoy the wonderful mountain panorama. The view stretches across Bad Griesbach in the valley all the way to the Black Forest National Park.
The route now zigzags downhill past the Rappenschliff, a gigantic steep gully with rockfalls in the red sandstone. Further on, we cross the so-called Silbereck, an area not far from the Haberer Turm where silver ore was once mined.
The short detour to the Haberer Turm is definitely worthwhile. The 16-metre-high sandstone tower was built in 1899 in honour of Dr Albert Haberer, the former medical councillor and promoter of the Renchtal baths. The route then follows gently sloping forest paths back to the starting point at the ski jump.
