3 facts about Titisee-Neustadt
Neustadtin Europe: 36 towns, municipalities and districts with the name Neustadt have come together to form one of the largest city friendships in Europe. Neustadt in the Black Forest Highlands is also part of it. Many more places could be added to the family. It is estimated that there are more than 600 towns worldwide with this name.
Black Forest glacier: green instead of white. Whenever there is a World Cup event on the Hochfirstschanze in Neustadt, the lack of snow is a recurring theme. The idea: use yesterday's snow! Around 3000 cubic metres of snow are stored all year round under a thick layer of insulation next to the ski jump, which can be quickly unpacked and distributed when needed.
Tobogganing fun: In winter, one of the longest toboggan runs in the entire Black Forest leads from the Lenzkirch district of Saig over 1.2 kilometres down towards Titisee. The shuttle bus takes you back up again, a great tobogganing experience that is also floodlit in the evening.
Titisee-Neustadt and its districts
Jostal: A picture-book Black Forest valley with a very special mill: the Öhlermühle dates back to 1772 and has been patiently restored by volunteers. It is the backdrop for the popular Jostäler open-air theatre.
Waldau: If you want to learn to ski in the Black Forest, make your way to Waldau. You can take skiing lessons at the Schneeberg lifts and slowly familiarise yourself with the sport on gentle slopes.
Schwärzenbach: A special hiking tip awaits you in Schwärzenbach. The "Gäg-Wäg " is not just about walking, but also having a good laugh. There are always amusing anecdotes and places to take a break along the way that will put a smile on your face.
Langenordnach: Professional athletes are at home here: mountain biker Simon Stiebjahn (German champion and European champion) and ski jumper Ramona Straub (Olympic participant, world champion in the team) are based in Langenordnach.
Rudenberg: Rudenberg is a small settlement above Neustadt. From here you can take a walk past the youth hostel to the Fullbergkreuz, a great vantage point with a view over Neustadt.
