Viadukt Hornberg

The Hornberg railway viaduct is an arched bridge of the Black Forest Railway built between 1924 and 1925 and spans the Reichenbach Valley in Hornberg. It is the only viaduct on the Black Forest railway.

The viaduct is 150 metres long, 24 metres high and has seven arches, each with a clear width of 14.50 metres, which rest on six pillars and two massive abutments. It consists of approx. 14,000 m³ of concrete and is clad with approx. 3800 m³ of granite stones. The construction enabled the old steel bridge, built between 1869 and 1871, to be replaced and the railway tracks to be extended to three tracks.
