Westweg-Etappe 1: Pforzheim - Dobel

This first stage of the Westweg leads from Pforzheim / Kupferhammer via the Hoheneck ruins to Dillweißenstein, on via Birkenfeld, then up to Neuenbürg/Wilhelmshöhe and on to Schwann. From there, the route continues via the Schwanner Warte and the Dreimarkstein to the climatic health resort of Dobel, where this stage ends after approx. 25 km at the Kurhaus am Sonnentor. Overall, the route is always uphill, often through residential areas at first, but then after a third of the tour, there are beautiful, pleasant hiking trails with some wonderful views. The hiker has the most beautiful view from the tower of the Schwanner Warte. Here you can see from the heights above Bad Herrenalb into the Rhine Valley and as far as the Palatinate Forest. This tour is the "altitude variant" via Birkenfeld. The path splits at the "Unterer Enzsteg" location. The lower variant then runs along the River Enz, passes Neuenbürg Castle and then joins up again at the grammar school in upper Neuenbürg.
