On the wolf trail (south of Strittberg near Höchenschwand), you can experience a wolf adventure with Lupus and his family and learn about his life at numerous interactive stations. The trail runs mainly on near-natural paths and tracks through the forest. Along the way, a sunny rest area and the wolf hut with additional information boards offer numerous opportunities to play and rest. If you get tired, you can shorten the trail halfway. It is fully signposted and can be walked in both directions. The trail can be completed in two to four hours, depending on how long you spend at the individual stops. The tour is not suitable for pushchairs.
At the start of the trail there is a ball machine from which you can get a ball for the individual stations. You will need a 1 euro coin for the machine. It only takes 1 euro coins!
Route description
We start our hike from the Dumrig car park together with our wolf mascot Lupus in a northerly direction. We briefly follow the forest path, then turn off onto a forest track and soon reach the first stop "On a dangerous journey". Lupus is setting off here to found his own pack in a new territory. Can you help him arrive safely in his new territory? The trail continues past the "With all senses" station where we can enjoy the view to the first rest and play area. Here you can learn all about the family life of a wolf pack. Can you find Lupu's family in the forest? The adventure continues! At the next two stations, find out what a wolf eats and how we humans differ from wolves. Between the two stations is the shortcut back to the car park. At the next station, the sprint station, you can measure how fast you can run. Are you as fast as a honeybee or a hare? Next up is the wolf hut. Here you can take a break before the last stretch and play a lot or learn more about the wolf together with your parents. A large storybook awaits you at the last two stations and Lupus will show you how to properly stalk prey.
The wolf trail is part of the "Wolfswege Schwarzwald" project. In addition to the trail, the wolf trail and the wolf hut are also part of the project. You can find out more at www.wolfswege-schwarzwald.de
