In 1872, the railway reached Calw for the first time with the Württemberg "Black Forest Railway" from Stuttgart via Weil der Stadt.

As early as 1870, many people from Stuttgart travelled on the Royal Württemberg Black Forest Railway to Calw on Sunday excursions, walking up the Felsenweg from the old railway station and stopping off at the former Waldcafé to enjoy the beautiful view over the Nagold valley and the town of Calw.

The special features are listed along the railway line, near the cemetery, uphill under the railway bridge and further up the steps on the right after the second bridge.

You can also continue along the Hohfelsenstallelweg past the Künstlereck to the railway tracks. A poem from 1868 describes how people imagined the railway at the time.
