Southern light, warm temperatures, Mediterranean flora, lively squares, long nights – words that could be used to describe Tuscany… or Freiburg im Breisgau.

The morning

Experience culture

Awaken to the first rays of sunshine and take a leisurely stroll through Münstermarkt. Around the city's landmark, Freiburg Cathedral, farmers and traders offer regional products such as fruit, vegetables, wine, home-baked bread, olives, and many other delicacies. An absolute must for any Münstermarkt visit is the Münsterwurst, the so-called "Lange Rote" (long red sausage).

From the Münstermarkt, take a stroll on to Konviktstraße, located in Freiburg's beautiful old town. Walk through Freiburg's most beautiful alley surrounded by medieval facades, enjoy the special atmosphere and step into inviting little boutiques and family-owned shops.

Time for lunch! Freiburg also has many culinary delights. The market hall, amongst other places, offers a particularly large selection of regional and international dishes. You will be spoilt for choice.

More in the mood for art and culture? Visit the Augustinermuseum and discover art from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. Special exhibitions cover a wide range of topics.

Finally, for the perfect afternoon, a confectionary break is not to be missed. Freiburg’s cafés and pastry shops can be very tempting.

The evening

Culinary conclusion.

Attention gourmets and connoisseurs: The heart of Baden wine beats here. End an eventful day at the "Alte Wache - Haus der Badischen Weine" (Old Guard House of Baden Wine) with a view of the cathedral and experience wine culture at its very best.

Another top spot in Freiburg is the Schlossberg (Castle Mountain) with its Canon Square viewpoint. Enjoy the 360° panorama from the beer garden with a Radler (shandy) and the last hours of sunshine at the end of a perfect day in Freiburg.
