The Hohe Möhr viewing tower is located at an altitude of 985 metres above sea level. The viewing platform is 25 metres above the ground. The tower was built by the Black Forest Association in 1924. SWR also operates a transmitter for VHF, which uses a 77 m high, free-standing steel lattice tower as an antenna support.
When the weather is fine, there is a marvellous view of the Swiss Alps, the Jura mountains and the Vosges. The route from Hohe Möhr to Hohe Flum forms the 12th stage of the legendary Westweg.
The best way to get there is from Schweigmatt via the southern slope of the Hohe Möhr, with parking available at the Schweigmatt swimming pool. From there it is approx. 2.5 km and 240 metres in altitude to the tower via the road to the Hohe Möhr. The path is suitable for pushchairs or mountain bikers. There are also narrower hiking trails from Schweigmatt. Of course, you can also walk from Raitbach from the festival hall car park on the Scheuermatt (at the end of Raitbach). From there it is approx. 5 km and 420 metres in altitude. A hiking board at both car parks provides information about possible routes and connecting hikes. Those travelling by train can get off at Hausen-Raitbach station and reach the tower via Raitbach or Raitbacher Höhe and Hebelhöhe. The shortest version of the route is approx. 7.5 km long and has an elevation gain of approx. 580 metres. A hiking board on the footpath to Raitbach also provides information about the route.
