The bathing area in Sulzburg has been in operation since the 1930s, and in 2017 the natural swimming pool became a bathing area. For many, enjoying the peace and quiet at the end of the Sulzbach valley in summer is a highlight. It is certainly unique, because where else in the area can you cool off in such a natural swimming area?
For the hungry, the small bistro at the bathing area offers all kinds of snacks. You can also get a refreshing ice cream or a cup of coffee there.
The bathing area is a natural habitat for endangered amphibian species. Consideration for people and animals is paramount here. Please note that no animals may be brought to the bathing area. Please also note that there is no water supervision.
The bathing area is open daily from May to September.
Depending on the weather, it may not open its gates until around midday or may even remain closed.
It is best to come by bike or on foot, as there are only a few car parking spaces.
The occasional occurrence of bathing dermatitis, which is caused by cercariae, cannot be avoided in such a body of water. The rash is unpleasant - but generally harmless. The occurrence of cercariae is not related to the hygienic water quality, but rather to the natural habitat and the presence of water snails and ducks. Changing damp clothing quickly after bathing, taking a shower, drying thoroughly with a towel and using a waterproof sunscreen are good preventative measures.
