Battert circular route

If you are looking for a longer tour, then combine the Battert circular trail with the Ebersteinburg circular trail. From the "Untere Batterthütte" or "Wolfsschlucht", follow the signs for the "Ebersteinburg-Rundweg".

The start of this hike with a gentle to moderate incline is the Old Castle hiking portal. From there, the route leads to the Ritterplatte with its magnificent views. Passing a dramatic rocky landscape, you reach the Obere Batterthütte, from where you reach the Untere Batterthütte via the Bergwachthütte. You then return to the Old Castle via the rocky path.

Please remember to wear sturdy shoes.

The Battert circular trail leads through the Battert forest. This "primeval forest of tomorrow" is left to its own devices. No forestry measures are carried out. Due to the high proportion of dead trees and dead branches in the treetops, there is an increased risk of breakage even in strong winds or snow. In these weather conditions, we strongly advise against visiting the site.
