For connoisseurs: the "Alde Gott panorama route"
Vineyards and orchards, waterfalls, and schnapps fountains – around Sasbachwalden, a ten-kilometer connoisseur's path leads through the ups and downs of the Black Forest wine village. Right at the beginning, it goes uphill. The Gaishöll waterfall gorge is, however, also the most challenging part. 13 bridges and 225 steps lead through the nearly one-kilometer-long wild romantic gorge. After that, the first places to stop are waiting.
The premium trail leads through chestnut forests, orchards, and vineyards always with views of the white timber-framed buildings in the village center, the vintners' farmhouses on the slopes, and the Rhine Plain in the west. After about five kilometers, the hiking trail crosses to the other side of the valley at the Königsrain winery to the Schelzberg monastery tavern.
The backdrop on the way back through the vineyards "Schelzberg" and "Alde Gott" are the Black Forest mountains, which here rise almost 1,000 meters high to the Hornisgrinde tower. Along the way, hikers can also refresh themselves at one of the legendary schnapps fountains. For a small fee, everyone can help themselves freely here: fruit brandies, liqueurs and fine brandies, cider, and juice are available for self-service in fresh spring water. The flyer for the "Alde Gott panorama route" is available at the Sasbachwalden tourist info.

Wegbeschreibung
The connoisseur's path starts with the legendary Gaishöll waterfalls.
- Along 13 bridges and 225 steps by the waterfalls, you reach Hörchenberg/Bischenberg, where the first places to stop and refresh await you.
- After a refreshment, it's directly on to another highlight
- an 18th-century corn mill. Then comes the next smaller climb through chestnut forests, orchards, and vineyards.
Along the old postal road and through hollow lanes, the various impressions and views of the village, the Rhine Plain, and the Vosges are fascinating again and again. - About halfway through the route, a wide view opens up of the Black Forest and the Hornisgrinde.
- Along the way lies the Königsrain winery and shortly after follows the Schelzberg monastery estate.
- After a well-deserved break, head to the origin of the "Alde Gottes". A small shrine testifies to the legend of the Alde Gottes, and another panoramic view is included for free. Passing more orchards, old timber-framed farmhouses, and schnapps fountains, you return to the starting point of the Gaishöll waterfalls.
The full 360 degrees are completed, and you have experienced a wonderful route through the natural and cultural landscapes of the Black Forest. The route is about 10 km long and you will happily spend 3-5 hours on this path.
There is a nicely signposted approach path to the connoisseur's path, which starts centrally at the spa house "Zum Alde Gott". A short climb through vineyards leads hikers to the "Badische Bank", from where guests get their first panoramic view over Sasbachwalden.
This was also how our hiking guests T.S and B.L. saw it, who set out on 20.1.18 despite bad weather: ...to the Badner Bänk. From here, you have magnificent views of Sasbachwalden, the surrounding hills, and the Rhine Plain. Over bridges, logs, and stones, we climbed the wild-romantic Gaishöll waterfalls..".
