We start our circular tour in the Black Forest town of Schönau. From here, we follow the B317 towards Todtnau, Feldberg and Titisee. After passing the Schönau district of Schönenbuchen, we keep left after about 1.7 kilometres and leave the B317 in the direction of Belchen. The first long climb of the day awaits us here. After crossing the small community of Aitern up the valley, the state road 142 winds its way for 7.5 kilometres through the hamlets of Holzinshaus and Multen to the valley station of the Belchen cable car. Here we meet the old Belchen road, which is now car-free and used exclusively by cyclists and pedestrians. It leads us for another 3.5 kilometres directly to the Belchenhaus, from where we have a magnificent view of the Wiesental valley and the snow-covered Swiss Alps behind it. After a break, it's time for the first descent of the day, which takes us back to the valley station of the Belchen cable car. Down the valley, around 300 metres further on, we come across the L142 again and follow it to the left, uphill towards Wieden. The first 2.5 kilometres climb again until we reach the Hohtann and set off on the descent to Wiedener Eck. We reach this at kilometre 22.4, where we take a short break and enjoy the view over the Wieden valley on the right. Back on the pedals, the most fun part of the day follows: we plunge down the valley into the winding 8.2 kilometre descent towards Münstertal. Shortly before Münstertal, at kilometre 30.6, we now follow the immediately steeply ascending road towards Stohren. Gradients of over 15% over the next five kilometres are only for real mountain goats. At the top of the Stohren, we turn right at the Gießhübel mountain inn towards Stohren. The road leads steadily uphill before we finally reach the Schauinsland Pass at kilometre 37.1. We turn right again onto the L 124 and reach the slag heap after another kilometre. Here we have a fabulous view over Freiburg, the Vosges mountains and the neighbouring Feldberg, the highest mountain in the Black Forest (1,493 m). We now follow the main road and meet the main road 126 at the Notschrei at kilometre 40.5, which leads us via Muggenbrunn and Aftersteg to Todtnau. We keep right again and follow the course of the B317 before passing Schlechtnau, Geschwend, Utzenfeld and Schönenbuchen to reach the starting point of the tour, the town hall square in Schönau in the Black Forest.
