The beautiful Friedrichsbad has been one of Baden-Baden's landmarks for 145 years. The Renaissance-style building was considered the most modern bathhouse in Europe when it opened in 1877 and has lost none of its charm and atmosphere since then. Even the entrance hall and the staircase to the Friedrichsbad give an idea of an extraordinary bathing experience. This is how a visit to the Friedrichsbad works
At the beginning, a unique shower experience awaits bathers: pure thermal water pours onto the body from huge shower heads. Afterwards, you make yourself comfortable on warm wooden loungers in the warm air room (54 degrees) and later in the hot air room (68 degrees). The paradisiacal motifs on the tiles attract attention and make you forget everyday life.
The soap brush massage follows on request and subject to availability*, where you are first rubbed with soap and massaged with a brush after showering again. It can only be booked as an optional extra to the bathing experience on site and subject to availability. Please enquire in advance here.
The soap brush massage is the ideal preparation for the bath in the healing thermal water. After around ten minutes, you move on to the thermal steam baths, which warm the body further at 45 and 47 degrees. Hot mist pleasantly settles on the skin.
In the first thermal pool, guests can relax and unwind at 36 degrees. This is followed by the bubble bath at 34 degrees - fresh thermal water drums against the back in a cosy warmth. Completely relaxed, the guest now walks over to the famous domed hall, where they can spend a few minutes in the circular exercise pool (28 degrees) before allowing the coolness of the plunge pool (18 degrees) to take effect. When they get out, a member of staff is already waiting with pre-heated sheets to dry them off. Various creams are available to moisturise the skin.
Finally, you can relax with a cup of tea in the relaxation and reading room and savour the feel-good experience in the Friedrichsbad.
Guests do not need to bring anything with them for a relaxing day at the Friedrichsbad - they are provided with bathing shoes, towels and hair/body shampoo, and there is also the option of applying moisturising body lotion afterwards.
The alternation between dry warm and hot air combined with steam, movement and thermal bubble baths is a tried and tested recipe for relaxation, boosting the body's defences and training the circulation.

In the years 1869-1877, a monumental bathing palace in the style of the Italian High Renaissance was built on the site of a demolished old town quarter in the immediate vicinity of the thermal springs. The Friedrichsbad was the most important and most modern thermal baths of the late 19th century in Germany.
