From the Black Forest to the Kaiserstuhl

From Staufen, we first head towards the southern tip of the Tuniberg, then along its western slope to Merdingen (a beautiful wine village and longtime residence of Jan Ullrich). At Ihringen, we climb into the Kaiserstuhl vineyards – short, sharp ascents through hollow paths, but always with asphalt surface. Beautiful panoramic road between Achkarren and Oberrotweil, and then comes the legendary Texas Pass up to the main ridge of the Kaiserstuhl. A rapid descent to Kiechlinsbergen and via Königsschaffhausen to Sasbach. Now it goes between the Rhine and Kaiserstuhl on the return route via Burkheim (a worthwhile small town for a pit stop) and Breisach. We follow the broad cycle path along the B 31 southwards, but turn towards Grezhausen to take a few worthwhile side roads. Via Feldkirch and Tunsel, it then returns to Staufen.

In the vineyards between Ihringen and Achkarren, pay attention to the exact route! Somewhat tricky routing at the so-called 'Rimsinger Ei', a huge roundabout on the B 31 – don’t miss the turnoff to Grezhausen here!
