You surely know the famous Bollenhut. It is an ambassador of the Black Forest worldwide. Gutach is the home of the Bollenhut, as it is worn only here and in two other communities. The Westweg runs over the heights of the western ridges; a highlight of the Hausach-Wilhelmshöhe stage is the ascent to Gutach's local mountain, the Farrenkopf with Hasemann hut.
The route can be divided into two stages. Variant 1: Gutach village center parking lot on the west side to the restaurant Alexandros im Rössle, from there by bus back to the village center. Variant 2: Restaurant Alexandros im Rössle (bus and parking) on the east side via Steinades Bühl to Gutach.

Optionally, the loop via the Moserstein pavilion viewpoint offers itself. The view there is one of the most beautiful around the Gutach municipality.
Wegbeschreibung
The hike starts in Gutach village center or at the parking lot of the Liebich-Sporthalle and initially leads steeply up towards Isländ. There, you can take your first break at the hut recently repaired by the Schwarzwaldverein Gutach. The hike passes through open coniferous mixed forest up to the Vorder Sand and Hinter Sand. At Vorder Sand, we cross the L107, which leads over the Landwassereck into the Prechtal and Elztal. After a short time, we reach Hinter Sand on pleasant forest paths and descend into the picturesque Vogelbachtal. In the area of the "Viehhütte," seating areas and a barbecue spot invite you to stay a while. The route now leads in the direction of Steinenbachtal. At the intersection of Vogelbach/Steinenbach, a seating area at the "Wasserspielen Steinenbach" invites you to take a short break. After a short stretch on the paved road, turn right past the fish pond with views into the Gutachtal and over the Schwarzwald farms of Steinenbach towards the signpost location "auf dem Eckle." After this gorge-like section, the view later opens up to the mountains east of Gutachtal.
At the inn "Restaurant Alexandros im Rössle," we cross the Gutachtal heading east and climb up the Ebersbachtal. Directly at the Ebersbauernhof, a milk hut was converted into a schnapps and drink fountain and invites you to stay with a seating area. Shortly thereafter, the sign to the viewpoint "Schloss Hornberg-Blick" should definitely be followed.
The route then initially leads on hiking paths towards Hasenköpfle and subsequently on a farm road to the Lehmbauern Bühl. At the "Brunnen am Bühlerbächle," another seating area invites to rest. Later, the view opens refreshingly for the first time again to the Gutachtal.
Above the "Steinades Loch," the trail then descends to the next viewpoint and rest area, the pavilion on Steinades Bühl. After a break, the route initially leads back to the junction above the Schmittsbach, where the "Gutacher Tälersteig" leads down towards Gutach, passing the Evangelical village church and the inn "Neue Linde" as well as the "War Memorial" by Professor Liebich back to the village center.
Alternatively, the "Mosersteinschleife option" can also be chosen, which leads over the Lindenweg, Maiereck to the viewpoint Moserstein that towers over Gutach. From there, it is only a short descent down to the valley. At the railway crossing, you rejoin the Gutacher Tälersteig.

Mosersteinschleife option: Schmittsbach - Lindenweg - Maierecke - Moserstein - Gasthaus Linde.

Food and drinks can be consumed halfway at the inn Alexandros im Rössle. Additionally, a schnapps and drink fountain at the Ebersbauernhof has offered Gutach schnapps specialties, Ketterer beer, and non-alcoholic drinks since early May 2018.
