The museum is housed in a striking late Gothic stepped gabled house from the 16th century and displays a wide range of documents and artefacts relating to the history and development of the town.
Kandern has long been regarded as one of the most important pottery centres in south-west Germany. For this reason, the entire development of pottery in Kandern from stoveware to artistic ceramics from the late Middle Ages to the present day is presented and described using selected exhibits.
The permanent exhibition is supplemented by special exhibitions with themes from different areas, which usually change every year.
