The formation of the Laufbach waterfalls is due to the abundance of water that nature has bestowed on Loffenau; visible through the many streams and even more small "Wässerle" (little waters) that feed the Laufbach, for example.

In the north-western outskirts of Loffenau, a small, wildly romantic gorge opens up due to the special topographical location of the village. The Laufbach stream, whose water has collected in the Sägmühlteich pond, plunges into this gorge over several smaller steps, before and after the dominant waterfall, and over a drop of around 50 metres. The Laufbach waterfalls offer nature-loving visitors an impressive natural spectacle at any time of year.
