Beschreibung
The East Trail leads from the gold town of Pforzheim over the heights to the east and west of the Nagold Valley. Valleys, heights and open countryside take hikers via Pfalzgrafenweiler, Freudenstadt past the Friedrichsturm and Vogteiturm to Alpirsbach in the Kinzig valley. Across the plateau with Aichhalden, Schramberg in the Schiltach valley and the heights with the Waldau ruins, Königsfeld, Mönchweiler, Villingen-Schwenningen and the source of the Neckar, the trail offers views of the Swabian Alb in the east, the Black Forest in the west and across the Baar to the Alps. The trail leads through the typical landscape at the transition to the Swabian Alb and crosses the Danube valley at Geisingen. On the heights of the mountain ridge, the eastern trail reaches its highest point at 920 metres above sea level. Over the Eichberg, it enters the Wutach valley at Achdorf and accompanies it downstream to Stühlingen. The last major ascent of the trail to the Schleitheim edge tower takes you down to Schaffhausen on the High Rhine.
